Demag quality for the Chinese market

The clamping unit:
Modular and Flexible

Its fully hydraulic clamp has been purpose-trimmed for high productivity. All parameters are programmable. Key features include two clamps cylinders (A) and a flow-volume multiplier (B) on the inner side of the anchor platen. This design reduces the overall length of the machine while providing ample space for larger molds. And it achieves fast clamp movements at comparably low DFEE pump (C) capacity.

Computer-optimized control of end-point positioning as well as predefined deceleration and acceleration profiles complement the fast and balanced clamp movements, protecting your molds and reducing your cycle times. The hydraulic ejector is easily accessible-no hydraulic hoses protruding. And the tiebars can be pulled for mounting bulky molds.

Extended supports with integrated roller bearings take the weight of the moving mold half in order to minimize the tilting moment, reduce the load on the tiebars, and thus eliminate potential problems when running heavier molds.


The injection unit:
Molding and Flexible

Melt quality is one of the essential criteria of part quality, and accounted for by the Dragon`s proverbial flexibility: Each clamp can be combined with three different injection units. Furthermore you can also use the plasticizing cylinders of the next smaller or larger injection units. For optimized plasticizing conditions, all screws have an L/D ration of 20,
providing the required plasticizing capacity even for the shortest cycle times. In spite of this flexibility, we have kept the machine setting simple by adding a cylinder change system with coded central connectors for heaters and thermocouples. The NC4 control of the Dragon Machines identify the specific cylinder and converts its setting data automatically. Speed and torque of the radial piston motor are perfectly matched to the screw geometry.

Closed - loop injection" meets the most stringent requirements of precision and dynamics during injection.


The driver system:
Powerful and Energy-Efficient

The hydraulic heart of the Dragon machines is an electronically closed-loop controlled variable displacement pump (DFEE). The DFEE pump provides fast pressure and extremely dynamic flow control as well as balanced machine movements at high reproducibility. A special pump calibration program provides the long-term consistency of parameters. This allows the operator to set the pressure/flow characteristics as required-with the dynamics and precision of conventional servo valves. Of particular advantage, the DFEE control minimizes energy consumption, as the pump supplies pressure and flow always according to the actual demand,i.e. without producing over-capacity. 

Versatility

To ensure the economy and productivity of specialized moldings, Dragon is also available with customized added functions, auxiliary devices, and modifications tailored to specific applications. Options include:

  • Programmable inputs/outputs, and a universal hardware interface for fast and simple integration of peripheral equipment,
  • A two-directional quality flap for automated separation of rejects from good parts, or sampling (quality control),
  • Handling devices designed for ease of integration,
  • Fast and automated tiebar retraction,
  • Signal or data interface for temperature controllers,
  • Integrated hot runner control,
  • A barrier screw for particularly complicated plasticizing conditions
