IntElect – The quantum leap in all-electronic technology
From 500 kN up to 1,500 kN "Top-of-the range precision at a high price" was the industry`s assessment of all-electric injection molding machines. Hence, their use was restricted to the production of precision parts mainly for medical engineering and electrical engineering applications. That was then – this is now! The new IntElect is one of the first all-electric injection moding machines with water-cooled high-torque direct drives to produce parts with an outstanding precision in the world – at a price that is insubstantially higher than that of hydraulic or hydro-mechanical machines. This new machine series is the result of Demag`s advancement of its trend-setting, decentralized drive technology, which started with the EL-EXIS S to all-electric machines. Every machine movement is driven by separate, decentralized drives – delivering cost-efficiency at the leading edge of technology. The new IntElect`s machine technology utilizes the innovative strength built up during many years of research. The machine offers a whole range of benefits, from the powerful yet sensitive operation of the five-point double toggle clamp, sturdy machine construction, strictly ergonomic design and smart user interface to the well-established modular upgrading options.

The clamping unit Demag`s clamping unit with five-point double toggle clamp with a wide distance between tie bars offers ample space for large moulds. The powerful kinematics of the double toggle make for short locking times and high mould-opening forces. Especially in the end approach positions, the large movement of the toggle terminates in a relatively small movement of the platen permitting extremely sensitive control and minimum stresses in the mould during closing and opening (see graph). And if any irregularities should occur during demoulding, there is the active mould protection system which reliably stops the machine within milli-seconds and reliably protects high-cost precision moulds from damage.
Drives Direct drives are here to stay. Their merits have caused us to power all main axes of the IntElect with independent drives: High-torque direct drive for the mould movements. High-torque direct drives for metering, plasticising, and injection. Separate drives for the secondary movements. This decentralized solution not only makes machine movements more reliable, faster and more precise - it also cuts energy and cooling power requirements and provides substantial savings in first cost and maintenance expense. Two high-torque direct drives ensure an outstanding process consistency an reproducibility by delivering a highly repeatable screw end position and a precise change-over from injection to cavity pressure with minimum deviations. The clamping unit`s high-torque drive operates with high-precision sensor technology. In combination with the machines five-point double toggle clamp, this system generates precise and fast machine movements.
The injection unit With its modular design, the plasticising unit provides easy access and high flexibility while delivering outstanding plasticising results: Demag`s modular concept provides a choice of three injection units with three screw cylinders each for each clamping unit. Different screw geometries accommodate special plasticising applications. The quick-action screw coupling allows quick and easy plasticising unit changes.
