The outstanding success of our Extra machine series is based on highly productive injection molding technology with electronically controlled variable delivery pump (DFEE), a short dynamic clamping unit, a low-maintenance injection unit and the tried-and-tested NC4 control system with cost-efficient upgrading packages and ancillary components to be added as you require.
The details: Ergonomic operation - successful processing ergonomic design right down the line – the trade mark of the Demag machine family – is also a standard feature of the Extra. Easy access, straightforward handling, generously dimensioned tie bar distances to accommodate large and heavy moulds as well as the comprehensible user interface of the control terminal, which is a uniform feature of all Demag machines are just a few examples of the variety of smart details that make processes such as the injection moulding of prototypes or sample parts and small-scale or large-scale production easier and more efficient.

The clamping unit: minimum length, maximum speed All clamping unit parameters can be programmed. The unit itself offers sufficient room for large moulds despite its short design. Two clamping cylinders (A) and one flow multiplier (B) are integrated into the end plate of the all-hydraulic clamping unit. Used in combination with a variable delivery pump (C), this equipment allows machine movements at a high speed even when the material throughput is low. Machines with clamping forces starting from 1,300 kN benefit from the powerful kinematics of their five-point double toggle clamp unit, which delivers short locking times and high clamping forces. As all Extras are equipped with an ejector featuring extension or retraction parallel to mould opening, you need not wait for the "mould open" position. Pressure and speed can be conveniently adjusted on the operator terminal, which saves cycle times and significantly reduces the machine`s output rate.
Drives: minimum cost, maximum dynamics The Extra`s hydraulic system is driven by electronically controlled DFEE for precise setting of any required pressure/flow characteristics. The system`s electronic control is mounted directly on the pump`s proportional valve for easy access.
Injection unit: open and ergonomic design The open, easily accessible injection unit design is a prominent feature of Extra machines, The quick-action screw coupling allows comfortable and fast screw changes and facilitates de-coupling of the injection unit and cleaning of the non-return valve and the screw. Extra machines are equipped with a non-contact, high-resolution ultrasonic stroke measurement system, which is installed on the injection unit. It transmits signals to the machine`s control system via a fast data bus to record the position of the injection unit. Accelerated signal processing increases the precision of the injection process, eliminates abrasion and makes production processes more transparent for machine operators. |
